Chinese Xiaomi challenges Apple's iPhone with its new 1,000 euros Xiaomi 13 Pro
Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi is stepping into Europe with the Xiaomi 13 series, which it previously introduced in China. The phones challenge iPhone dominance in Europe, both in terms of features and prices.
During a press event held as part of the 2023 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Xiaomi officially made the international launch of the Xiaomi 13 smartphone series. Introduced in Xiaomi's homeland China last December, none of the phones are planned to be launched in the US; It has been announced that it will go on sale in the European market.
Xiaomi 13 Pro features and price
The Xiaomi 13 Pro stands out as the most impressive member of the series, especially for mobile photographers. The phone, which has a 6.73-inch curved screen, uses cameras jointly developed with the famous photography company Leica. The main 50MP rear camera has a 1-inch lens and has a 32MP front camera along with a 50MP 75mm floating telephoto camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera.
Impressive camera features enable Xiaomi 13 Pro to shoot 10-Bit RAW images. Portrait mode images with telephoto lenses can also be modified beyond standard 75mm photos. You can choose to shoot in black and white with a 35mm image, 50mm swirling bokeh or a 90mm soft focus photo.
Other hardware features on the Xiaomi 13 Pro include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and a 4820mAh battery that can charge from zero to 100 percent in 19 minutes with a 120W HyperCharge charger in Boost mode. It also supports both 5G and Wi-Fi 7 wireless speeds. The phone has an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and comes with Xiaomi's MIUI 14 Android 13 version.
The phone will be available in Ceramic Black or Ceramic White for a price of 1,300 euros in Europe.
Xiaomi 13 features and price
The standard Xiaomi 13 has a 6.36-inch flat screen, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, 8 or 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and a 4500 mAh battery. The cameras of this model were also developed in partnership with Leica and include a 32MP front camera as well as a 50MP main sensor, 12MP telephoto camera and 10MP ultra-wide camera.
The Xiaomi 13 will be available in White, Black or Flora Green for a starting price of 1,000 euros in Europe.
Xiaomi 13 Lite features and price
Finally, we encounter the mid-budget Xiaomi 13 Lite. The phone with a curved 6.55 display has Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage. The cameras on this phone, which does not come with the Leica brand, include a 50MP main camera, a 5MP telephoto lens and a 2MP ultra-wide sensor. It also has a 4500mAh battery. However, out of the box, it uses the old Android 12 operating system.
The Xiaomi 13 Lite features a slightly different layout on its front cameras. In addition to the 32MP main front camera, the phone also has an 8MP depth sensor and both are located at the top of the screen.
This model will be available in three colors (Black, Light Blue and Light Pink) and will have a price tag of 499 euros in Europe.
All three phones will officially go on sale on March 8.
