It's time for a big change at Spotify: The mobile app is completely overhauled
Spotify plans to make major changes to its mobile app. Here are the important innovations that will come to the application...
Spotify held the Stream On event. At the event, Spotify announced that it has redesigned its mobile app. The update to the app introduces a new home screen where users can experience quick previews of music, podcasts and audiobooks.
The company is also introducing a new "Smart Shuffle" button, new discovery features in search, and autoplay for podcasts. Here are all the changes to the app:
Music, Podcasts & Shows & Audiobook previews on Home: Simply tap the Music, Podcasts & Shows, or Audiobooks stream to discover audio and audio previews of playlists, albums, podcast episodes, and audiobooks tailored just for you. You can then tap to save or share, dig deeper into artist or podcast pages, play from the beginning, or continue listening where the preview ended.
New feeds for exploration in Search: Swipe up or down to discover short Canvas clips of some of your favorite genres. Then you can easily save the song to a playlist, follow the artist or share it with your friends. All of this is done in one place. You can also explore related genres using hashtags in the stream to easily discover new favorites. You can even preview tracks from your favorite playlists like Discover Weekly, Release Radar, New Music Friday, and RapCaviar.
Smart Shuffle: This new experience keeps listening sessions fresh with personalized recommendations that perfectly match the mood of an original user-created playlist. It breathes new life into carefully curated user-created playlists, shuffles tracks and adds new, tailored suggestions.
Autoplay for Podcasts: Just like with music, Autoplay is now available for Podcasts. When a podcast ends, another related episode that suits your taste is automatically played.
