Mad Island is an adventure game that combines elements of crafting, exploration, building, farming, fishing, and combat as players strive to escape from a mysterious island. Following a cruise shipwreck, you and another protagonist awaken on this island and must switch between characters while searching for your friends. Among the island's inhabitants are enemies who can become allies and natives who can be enslaved for labor. This guide will help you understand how to capture, tame, and befriend natives in Mad Island, turning them into valuable allies in your quest for survival.
How to Capture Natives in Mad Island
1. Knock Out the Native
- The first step to capturing a native is to knock them out. This can be done through combat or using tranquilizing items.
2. Place the Native in a Cage with Food
- Once the native is unconscious, place them in a cage and provide them with food. You can see a native’s preferred food by hovering over them while they are in your inventory. The higher the food’s affinity value, the faster the taming process will be.
3. Taming Process
- The native will slowly consume the food and gain affinity over time. This progress is indicated by an icon on the cage’s inventory, starting from 0 and reaching its maximum level. During this time, you can engage in other activities.
4. Monitor the Native’s Status
- If the native falls to the floor when placed in the cage, it means they are not tamed yet. Continue to provide food and wait for the affinity to reach its maximum level.
5. Spawn as a Friendly NPC
- Once the native is fully tamed and the affinity icon shows “Max,” right-click them in your inventory, similar to placing a building, to spawn them as a friendly NPC.
6. Assign Work to the Native
- Now that the native is tamed, you can interact with them and assign various tasks. Hover over the work options in their status menu to view the jobs needed for different facilities.
7. Increasing Relationship Levels
- To increase a native’s relationship level and potentially romance them, have them follow you or dance near your villagers. Press ‘Q’ to access the dance menu.
8. Using Love Potions
- A love potion can give a native a 50-point relationship boost. The recipe for this potion becomes available after opening the chest behind Takumi’s luxury bed. Craft it using the cooking table.
Capturing and taming natives in Mad Island can significantly enhance your gameplay experience by providing additional labor and potentially forming romantic relationships. By following this guide, you'll be able to effectively manage and utilize natives, making your journey on the island more manageable and enjoyable.
